Hey I’m fifteen and I live in south-east london england. I feel that there isn’t anything for teenagers to do with film before their old enough to go film school. Add and message me if you agree and want to start a new group.

  3. cgopie1 says:

I thought it was great. And I was perplexed about the 8:10 shot, but using a twin here was very effective.

  4. melaneyy says:

    really disturbing. good job

  5. fuckduck5671 says:

It was a good film, compared to the standard of the other short films I’ve seen, tension was created nicely in the last two minutes or so, and the overall effect was an interesting visual experience. keep it up

  6. pol115 says:

for those of you wondering how he pull off the shot from 8:10 onwards, girl is a twin ;-)

  7. ellozy says:

Great Work, I am AD so I can imagine the logistics of that, very impressive

  8. martins2009 says:

the crying baby in the background in my oppinion is unnecesary, the story is effective enough with out it.

  9. pol115 says:

I happen to be a big fan of the one take scene shot [ the director of one of my favourite movies of all time , Children of Men used that technique as well]. Your use of that tool is very smart and on point…

could use more dialogue or was that what you were going for? a film with scanty dialogue.

Good work and congrats for all the awards you have garnered and good luck as well on your upcoming projects and future works; may be we could do something together in the future

  10. lbvedj says:

  20. KBDProductionsTV says:

    Very well done.

  21. Mekkaman says:

One of the best productions I have seen on the VFS page.

  22. DamienZshadow says:

I can understand both sides. Soldiers today who don’t want to fight really are just gambling if they think they can slide without being deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. Granted I never would resort to it no matter what the consequences, I saw it all the time. Kids raised in low income homes were shown two paths. Graduate and work in low paying jobs to scrap for the rest of your life or join the military for a free ticket to a half decent life. It’s the monopolizing of the nation to own the poor.

  23. srav953 says:

Go to jail for not doing acts of violence voluntarily? Sheesh, US is messed up!

  24. srav953 says:

A very touching documentary. The music blends in well… nice piece of work.

  25. PowPowPaublo says:

    Thank you.

  26. cunderwater1988 says:

glad i got out when i could. the military chews you up and spits you out into a mindless monster

  27. michelewilla says:

I really liked this short documentary. I understand some people don’t get the parallel but I see it. Yes people going to Iraq volunteered but some people don’t understand how it is. I’m not a soldier but I knew some one that went in after they graduated high school in 2002 and that was before the big deployment. He was in it for the free school but who knows where he is now.
Keep on making good vids Paul St. Armand

  28. IIxJABxII says:

    Thanks :D

  29. zsoleilz says:

And what if bureaucracy was misleading about what the job was that the soldiers signed up for?
Also, nowadays when you enlist you don’t know for what or whom/for whom you will be fighting. You just know that you will fight. There is no moral backing for war anymore.
Military is the greatest Catch-22 there is.

  30. VancouverFilmSchool says:

In this case, the piece was created through our Film Production program, so all aspects of film making were taken into consideration. We do also have an Acting program for those students looking to pursue an acting career.

  31. Philinspaces says:

OK, be honest, there is no parallel here. Those drafted have a moral right to go AWOL. Those who volunteered said, in effect, “I will kill for money”. How is that a parallel? Not even close. A mercenary is a mercenary no matter how you cut it. If everyone who volunteered got a non combat job there would be no one with a gun. They are dreaming. I’m not saying I support the war. Those drafted for Viet Nam who ran are heroes. Those who ran from Iraq just didn’t like the job they signed for.

  32. IIxJABxII says:

are people in VFS just focusing on the editing or the acting as well?

  33. rebelient says:

    that was really good

  34. robenghuse says:

    first! good movie!

  35. bqex says:

very good, makes you think and grabs you into it!
